USB (Universal Serial Bus) Universal
Serial Bus (USB) ports allow you to add external USB
devices, such as keyboards, mice, scanners, etc., to your computer
quickly and easily. With USB, a new device can be added to your
computer without having to add an adapter card or even having to turn
the computer off. USB is plug and play technology, which means
that your PC recognizes the device whenever the device is plugged in
and immediately tries to configure the device so that it can be used
right away. |

The cables that connect USB devices have two
different types of connections, which are not interchangeable. This is
very convenient, as it prevents improper connections when plugging in
USB devices. The two different types of connections are Type A and Type
B connections. Type A connections always connect to the PC. Type B
connections always connect to the USB device. |
